About

Hello — I'm the one drawing these

Hands sketching in a small watercolour notebook at a cafe table

I started drawing cities because I'm bad at photographs. I'd come home from a trip with four hundred pictures and remember none of it. So I began sitting down instead — twenty minutes, forty if the tea lasted — and drawing whatever was in front of me. It turns out you remember a street you've drawn. You remember the man who asked what you were doing, and the dog that wouldn't stop moving.

I live in Saudi Arabia, and most months I'm away for part of it. I sketch in ink first, then wash in colour later, usually at a hotel desk with the window open. My sketchbooks are ordinary and my hands are always a bit stained. Nothing about this is precious.

The club began because friends kept asking me to post them a drawing. After the tenth envelope I realised I loved that part most: choosing the stamp, writing the note, walking to the post office. So I made it a monthly thing — one city, one envelope, everyone gets the same one.

I'm not trying to build a big brand. I'm trying to make something that lands on your table and feels like a person sent it, because a person did. If you join, you'll hear from me every month in handwriting, and occasionally you'll get a coffee stain for free.
